PITTSYLVANIA CO., VA - CEMETERIES – Parker Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Parker graveyard: 1937 Apr. 21 Research made by Lona Dalton Cemetery Location: 2 miles west of Gretna, Virginia on Route #40, thence 3 miles west on Route #672, thence 7 miles north on Route #609, thence 1 mile west on Route #767. The graveyard is on the south side of the road. Pittsylvania Co., Virginia DATE: 1858. OWNERS: Originally in possession of the Parker family, but now owned by the Bennett Family (1937). The graveyard is still known as the Parker Graveyard. DESCRIPTION: This is a very large graveyard enclosed with a wire fence. There are only a few marked stones. But there are some very old graves with just old field rocks at the head and foot. On one side of the graveyard there are graves which are said to be those of the slaves. These have no markers. The graves are completely covered with honeysuckle and briers. Lilacs are the only flowers which have not been crowded out by bushes and all kinds of undergrowth. There are a lot of large oak and cedar trees. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: In memory of Frances Parker Died June 26, 1858 Aged 88 years In memory of Robert A.
