Ritter Cemetery Location: Pullens, Virginia on Route $605 Pittsylvania Co., Virginia DATE: 1894. OWNERS: Rorer and descendants. DESCRIPTION: There are a great many old graves in this graveyard, but only this one stone with name of Rorer. The older members of this family are buried here but do not have markers. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Among the settlers from Pennsylvania in 1774, was Harmon Cook who purchased large tracts of land in the northwestern part of the county. Cook was a colonizer who brought in many families from Pennsylvania to Virginia. Young Abram Rohrer, a native of Switzerland followed Cook from Pennsylvania to Virginia, and marrying Cook’s daughter founded the Rorer family of the county. It was he who had the H. dropped from the name Abram Rorer and his wife had four sons: Rudolph Charles David Abram B. C.
