Pittsylvania Co., Virginia DATE: About 1820. OWNERS: John Swanson 1820 Mary Swanson Payne 1882 Miss Blanch Swanson 1904 to present date. (1937) DESCRIPTION: To the side of the house and the rear of the church is a small private burying ground, call Swanson’s Burial Grounds. There are only three markers that have inscriptions on them although there are other graves there that are older but they have only old field rocks as stones at the head and feet. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: John Swanson Born Mar. 24, 1802 Died June 26, 1882 Julia B. Cook wife of John Swanson born May 1802 Died Aug. 4, 1868 Dr. W. G. Swanson Born Mar. 17, 1828 Died July 20, 1855 Note: Dr. W.G. Swanson was a son of John Swanson and Julia B. Swanson above.
