PITTSYLVANIA CO., VA - CEMETERIES – Williams Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Williams graveyard: 1937 Mar. 20 Research made by Lona Dalton Cemetery Location: 8 miles east of Chatham, Virginia on Route #57, thence 6 miles northeast on Route #702, thence 2 miles northwest on Route #655. The graveyard is on the east side of the road. Pittsylvania Co., Virginia DATE: 1835. OWNERS: Originally owned by the Williams family. Now by W.W. Wooldridge. (1937) DESCRIPTION: This old graveyard is filled with briars, bushes and weeds. The stones are not visible on approach. Some of the stones have fallen down and are covered with dirt. Originally the graves were surrounded by a rock wall which has tumbled down from age. Lots of the old graves have no markers, just large rocks at the head and foot. Williams Born April 26, 1768 Died June 6, 1861 Sacred to the memory of Sarah Marr Departed this life 1836 aged 26 years Sacred to the memory of Thomas Williams who was born Feb. 19, 1799 and died April 13, 1835 To the memory of Francis Parker Who was born Mar. 15, 1837 Sacred to the memory of Wm. D. Williams who was born 1825 Died Dec. 22, 1838 Sacred to the memory of Lucy Williams Born Feb. 15, 1768 Died Jan. 3, 1861 NOTE: Inscriptions on other stones not readable.
