Womak’s graveyard: 1937 Mar. 25 Research made by Mabel Moses Cemetery Location: 8.8 miles east of Chatham, Virginia, on Route #57. Thence .2 mile north on Route #702. The graveyard is on the west side of the road. Pittsylvania Co., Virginia DATE: 1849. OWNERS: Captain W. W. Womack 1849 Womack descendants 1938 DESCRIPTION: This family graveyard is enclosed by a rock wall and is in a rather dilapidated condition; undergrowth, vines and bushes of all kinds have taken possession of it. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Capt. W. W. Womack Born March 15th, 1794 Died Nov. 26, 1849 Martha J. Womack Born Oct. 10, 1804 Died Feb. – 1884 She was a most self sacrificing and exemplary Christian There are a few other graves in this small graveyard, but these are the only two that have inscriptions on markers, the others have just small plain marble slabs and old field rocks at the head and foot.
