Meadows Cemetery Location: 1-1/20 mile northeast of Chatham, Virginia, on Route #685; thence 3/10 miles southeast on Route #703; thence 1/10 mile on private road leading to cemetery. Pittsylvania Co., Virginia DATE: 1854. OWNERS: Thomas Hill Wooding 1842 owner of land. Joel Mustain 1870 R. W. Mustain 1913 to present date. (1937) DESCRIPTION: This is a small family cemetery surrounded by oak and cedar trees, has no fence. Cemetery is well kept, has a nice green lawn, shrubbery, lilacs and roses are scattered over same. Two markers are hand-made out of old field rock. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: In memory of John H. son of Robert & Mary S. Wooding Born 4th of July 1835 Died 19th June, 1854 In memory of Robert T. Wooding born Dec. 29, 1792 Died Dec. 31st, 1856 Behold, He taketh away Who can hinder him, who shall say unto Him, what Doest Thou. Capt. J. C. Mustain Born 13th Sept. 1826 Died Nov. 16, 1901 Mrs. J. C. Mustain Born May 3rd, 1832 Died Dec. 25, 1912 Robert Wooding served in the war of 1812. Capt. J.C. Mustain was Capt. of the Home Guards, and served in the War between the States the last two years of the War 1864 and 1865. SOURCES OF INFORMATION: Informant: R. W.
