Bynum/Stillwell Indenture Deed, 1772 Book 2:464-466 Arthur BYNUM from Jacob STILLWELL & Nancy his wife This Indenture made the Twenty seventh Day of May and in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand Seven hundred and Seventy two --Between Jacob STILWELL & Nancy his wife of the County of Pittsylvania of the one part and Arther BYNUM of said County of the other part, Witness that the said Jacob STILWELL and Nancy his wife for and in Consideration of the sum of One hundred Pounds Current Money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Arther BYNUM at or before the Ensealing and Delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof the said Jacob Stilwell and Nancy his wife doth hereby Acknowledge & thereof and of and from every part and parcel these & doth hereby acquit and Discharge the said Arther BYNUM his heirs Exers. And Admrs. by these Presents the said Jacob STILWELL and Nancy his wife Hath Granted bargained and Sold aliened Enfeoffed and Confirmed all That Tract piece or parcel of Land Situate lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania on both sides of Rutlages Creek and Bounded as following. Beginning on the South South side of said creek on Bynums line line Runing North on said line crossing the sd creek thence East for Complament on Wynnes old line thence South crossing the said Creek to WYNNES back line thence west on said line to the Beginning as to run the same courses as STILWELLS Deed from WITTS on WYNNE Senr. Specifies in all Containing two hundred acres more or less it being part of a larger Tract belonging to William WYNNE Senr. And being the whole of the Tract that said Stilwell bought of Wm. WYNNE Senr. In the Year of our Lord Christ 17 (blank) a Deed from said WYNNE to said Stilwell is Recorded in Halifax offices Referance these unto May be had and more fully appear with all Houses and all other Improvements Woods underwoods swamps Meadowland or any other appurtenances whatsoever to the same adjoyning and also the Reversion and Reversions Remainder and Remainders Right Estate Interest benefit Claim and Demand whatsoever of him the said Jacob STILWELL and Nancy his wife of in and to all and Singular the said Premises and of in and to every part and parcel thereof in and to all Yarly and other Rents and Profits received upon any Demise or Lease of the said Premises or any part thereof To have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of land and all and Singular the said premises herein mentioned and Intended to be hereby Granted with their and every of their Appurtenances unto the said Arther BYNUM his heirs and assigns forever and the said Jacob STILWELL for themselves & their heirs the said Tract or parcel of Land and all and Singular other Premises with their and every of their appurtenances unto him the said Arther Bynum his heirs and assigns against them the said Jacob STILWELL and Nancy his wife and their heirs or any of them or any Person whatsoever shall and will Warrant and forever Defend by these Presents free and clear from all Incumbrances whatsoever and the said Jacob and Nancy and their Heirs Shall make another Deed or Deeds unto the said Arther Bynum his heirs or assigns if Demanded or if their should be any Defi______ in this. Memorandum That Quiet Possesion & Seizen and delivery of the within land and premises was given unto the said Arther Bynum by the said Jacob Stilwell and Nancy his wife the Day and year first withing Written. Test Jacob Stilwell S.S. Thomas Duncan Nancy (her "O" mark) Stilwell S.S. William Wynne Junr. Henry Dixon Junior Received the within Consideration Money in full of the said Arther Bynum before the Insealing and Delivery of the sd. Presence the Day and Year first within Written. Test.
