VA Heirs of John Chattin - 1815 Pittsylvania County Virginia Deeds Vol 20, page 20 THIS INDENTURE, made this 6' Day of October, one thousand eight hundred and fifteen, Between Thomas Chattin, John Chattin, Joseph Chattin, Ephraim Giles and Nancy his wife, late Nancy Chattin, Silvanus A. Vaden and Polly his wife, late Polly Chattin, Bazel Nelson and Elizabeth his wife, late Elizabeth Chattin of the County of Pittsylvania, and William Williams and Sally his wife, late Sally Chattin of the County of Tazewell, and State of Virginia, and Harris Adams of the County of Clarke, and State of Kentucky, Heirs of John Chattin Dec’d of the one part and Wesley Shelton of the said County of Pittsylvania of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Thomas Chattin, John Chattin, Joseph Chattin, Ephraim Giles and Nancy his wife, Silvanus A. Vaden and Polly his wife, Bazel Nelson and Elizabeth his wife, William Williams and Sally his wife, and Harris Adams for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand and sixteen dollars money of the United States to them in hand paid by the said Wesley Shelton, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and thereof do hereby acquit and discharge the said Wesley Shelton and by these presents, they the said heirs of the said John Chattin Dec’d, have bargained, sold, aliened, _________ and confirmed, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, alien, _______, and confirm, unto the said Wesley Shelton his heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania on the north side of Bannister river, Containing two hundred and fifty three acres and bounded by the lands of William Tunstall, George Myers, and Thomas Carter Jr, it being the tract of land the said John Chattin Sr Dec’d resided on at the of his death, Beginning at Banister river at an old stump, a Corner of said Thomas Carters land, thence with said Carters line North 62 Degrees West 127 poles to a post oak, thence South 1 Degree West 10 poles to a post oak, thence South 70 Degrees West 46 poles to pointers in Myers line thence North 24 Degrees W 234 poles to the road adjoining Tunstalls land thence running with the said road 148 poles to a post oak in said Tunstall lines thence with said Tunstall line North 60 Degrees East ninety two poles to pointers thence 70 poles crossing the said road at the corner of said Chattins fence on said Tunstalls line to pointers, thence a _______ line, 122 poles to the beginning on said Banister river at an old ford, To have and to hold this said tract or parcel of land of two hundred and fifty three acres and premises with the appurtenances unto the said Wesley Shelton his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Heirs of the said John Chattin Dec’d for themselves and their heirs do Covenant and agree to and with the said Wesley Shelton, that they said heirs of the said John Chattin Dec’d as above mentioned and their heirs do hereby warrant and defend the said tract of land and premises above mentioned with the appurtenances unto him the said Wesley Shelton his heirs or assigns forever and against the Claim or Claims of all and every person whomsoever shall and will by these presents forever warrant and defend.
