Deed to Adonijah HARBOUR from Palatiah SHELTON and his wife, Mary, 1768 Deed Book 1 Pp 149-151 This Indenture made the Twenty fifth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred & Sixty Eight between Palatiah SHELTON and Mary his wife of colony and Dominion of Virginia of the one Part, and Adonijah HARBOUR of the County of Pittsylvania within the said Colony of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred Pounds Current Money of the said Colony by the said Adonijah HARBOUR in hand paid the Receipt whereof is hereby fully Acknowledged by the said Palatiah SHELTON and Mary his wife hath given granted Bargained and Sold, and by these Presents doth give, Grant bargain and Sell unto the said Adonijah Harbour his heirs and assigns a certain Tract or Parcel of land lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania within the said Colony on both Sides of fatting [falling??] Creek of Mayo River and Bounded as followeth, to wit Beginning at a white Oak on the South side of the said creek. Thence new lines North Sixty eight degrees East fifty Six Poles crossing a branch to a red oak. Thence a strait line to Pointers on the North side of the said Creek at the end of a division line between David WITT and the said Palatiah SHELTON, the said Strait devision line Equally Divides a Tract of Land containing four hundred acres between the said David WITT and Palatiah SHELTON, thence South Eight degrees East Two Hundred and thirty Two Poles crossing a branch on the creek to a Hickory thence North Sixty Two degrees East ninety four Poles crossing a branch to the first Sation [Station] containing Two hundred acres. To have and to hold the aforesaid Two Hundred Acres of Land with the appurtenances and all Rights, Privileges and Improvements to the same In any wise Belonging to him the said Adonijah HARBOUR his heirs and assigns forever and Palatiah SHELTON and Mary his wife for themselves their heirs and assigns doth hereby Covenant and agree to and with the said Adonijah HARBOUR that he the said Adonijah HARBOUR his heirs and Shall and May forever hereafter Peaceably and Quietly have hold occupy possess and enjoy the above Granted Land and Premises with all the letters or Notes alian of any person whatsoever and free and clear from all and all manner of Incumbrances whatsoever and the said Palatiah SHELTON and Mary his wife doth oblige themselves theire heirs Executors and Administrators to warrant and defend the afore granted land and premises to him the said Adonijah HARBOUR his heirs and assigns forever against the claim of all Persons whatsoever In Witness whereof the Parties have hereunto Let theire hands and seals, the day and year first above Written.
