Deed to Palatiah SHELTON from Thomas HARBOUR, 1768 Deed Book 1 pp 151-153 This Indenture Made the Twenty fifth day of August in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty Eight Between Thomas HARBOUR and Sary his wife of the colony and dominion of Virginia of the one Part and Palatiah SHELTON of the County of Pittsylvania within the said colony of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in Consideration of the Sum of one Hundred Pounds Current money of Virginia by the said Palatiah SHELTON in hand pd the Receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged by the said Thomas HARBOUR and Sary his wife hath Given granted Bargained and Sold and by these Presents doth give grant Bargain and Sell unto the said Palatiah SHELTON his heirs and assigns a Certain Tract or Parcell of Land, Lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania on Both sides of Irvin River Bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at the Mouth of Peeping Creek, thence up the same as it meanders to a maple on East side of the Creek thence off North eighty degrees East Seventy eight Poles to a white oak North thirteen degrees East Forty poles to a red oak west forty five poles to a black oak North Sixteen degrees East Twenty eight Poles to a wah who Tree on the River thence Crossing the river and down it as it meanders to a white walnut tree on the River thence off South one and one half degrees East Sixty one Poles to a white Oak South Seventeen degrees East one Hundred and Ten Poles to two white oaks South Seventy eight Degrees West Twenty one Poles to a Spanish Oak and Hickory on the River Thence crossing the River and up it to a Ham Beam [??] off North Seventy eight Degrees west Eighteen Poles to a Locust North Sixteen degrees East thirty eight Poles to a Hickory on the River thence down it as it meanders to the first Station containing one Hundred and thirty acres. To have and to hold the aforesaid one Hundred and Thirty Acres of Land with the appurtenances and all Rights Privileges and Improvements to the same in any wise belonging to him the said Palatiah SHELTON his heirs and assigns forever and the said Thomas HARBOUR & Sarah his wife for themselves their heirs & assigns doth hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Palatiah SHELTON the the said Palatiah Shelton his heirs and assigns shall and may forever hereafter Peaceably and Quietly have hold occupy posses and enjoy the aforesaid granted land and Premises without the ____ Molestation of any Person whatsoever and free and clear from all and all manner of Incumbrance whatsoever, and the said Thomas HARBOUR & Sarah his wife doth oblige themselves their heirs Executors and Administrators to Warrant and defend the above granted Land and Premises to him the said Palatiah SHELTON his heirs and assigns forever against the claim of all persons whatsoever In Witness whereof the parties have hereunto set their hands & Seals the day and year first above written Signed Sealed & delivered Thomas HARBOUR SS.
