Richard Anderson/Joshua Stone, Jr. Deed, 1799 Deed Book 12, p. 1 Pittsylvania County, Virginia Deed Book 12, p. 1 This Indenture made this fourteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred ninety nine Between Richard Anderson late of the County of Pittsylvania of the one part and Joshua Stone Junr of the said County Witnesseth that the said Richard Anderson for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and twenty pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Joshua Sone Jr at or before the Sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt he doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold unto the said Joshua Stone Jr one certain tract or parcel of land scituate lying and being in the said County of Pittsylvania on both sides of Byrd Creek containing by Estaimation Two hundred and ninety one and one half acres, be the same more or less and bounded as follows, to wit, Beginning at Anderson and Brooks corner pointers thence a new dividing line between Francis and Richard Anderson's lands South 50 degrees E 190 poles to pointers in Terrys Order line, thence along the same S 36 degrees West 166 poles crossing two Branches to a pine thence N 50 degrees W 188 poles to John Owens corner white oak on a branch, thence down the said branch as it meanders to Byrd Creek, thence crossing the said Creek N 50 degrees W 64 poles to a white oak and thence N 40 degrees East 158 poles along Samule Brooks line to the beginning To have and to hold the said land or parcle of land and premises with all its appertenance unto the said Joshua Stone Jr to the only proper use and behalf of him the said Joshua Stone Jr his heirs and assigns forever And the said Richard Anderson for himself his heirs Executors and administrators doth oblige themselves by Virture of these presence to Warrant and defend the title of the said land in fee simple clear of all Incumbrances whatsoever unto the said Joshua Stone, Jr and to his heirs and assigns forever against him the said Richard Anderson and his heirs and against all and every other person and persons whatsoever in Witness whereof the said Richard Anderson doth herunto set his hand and Seal the day and year first above written.
