Francis Anderson/Thomas Anderson Deed, 1799 Deed Book 12 p. 1 Pittsylvania County, Virginia Deed Book 12, p. 1 This Indenture made this fourteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine Between Francis Anderson and Sally his wife of the County of Pittsylvania of the one part and Thomas Anderson of the same County of the other part Witnesseth that the said Francis Anderson and Sally his wife for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and seventy pounds current mone of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Thomas Anderson at or before the sealing and deliverance of these presents the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold, alined released and confirmed unto the said Thomas Anderson and to his heirs and assigns forever the tract of land whereon they now live situate in the said county of Pittsylvania on the South side of Banister River containing by estimation two hundred and ninety one and a half acres together with all their interest and claim in and to the Water Grist & Saw Mills on the said River which was equally claimed by the said Francis and Thomas at the time of their bargain & sale together with all Houses, gardens, orchards, trees, woods, and woods, ways and watercourses, being or standing and also the reversion and reversions, roads, houses and profits there of Beginning at a white oak on Banister River, thence South 71 degrees East 147 poles to pointers, thence a new dividing line between the lands of the said Francis and Richard Anderson South 50 degrees East 290 poles to pointers in Terrys old order line, thence along the same North 36 degrees E 162 poles to a pine, thence along Terrys line North 60 degrees W 140 poles to a white oak on the river before said, thence up the same as it meanders including the said Trancis's part of the Mills aforesaid to the beginning with the appertences to have and to hold the said lands and mills to the only use and behalf of him the said Thomas Anderson his heirs and assigns forever And the said Francis Anderson and Sally his wife for themselves their heirs Executors and administrators doth oblige themselves by virtue of these presents to warrant and defend the title of the said lands and mills in fee simple clear of incumbrances and the said Thomas Anderson his heirs and assigns forever against themselves and their heirs and against all and every other person and persons whatsoever In witness whereof the said Francis Anderson and Sally his wife hath hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.
