William & Patsey Barnett/John Noble Deed, 1805

Pittsylvania County, Virginia Deed Book 14, p. 458

This Indenture made this eighth day of May in the year of our Lord one 
thousand eight hundred and five between William Barnett & Patsey his wife of
the Town of Danville in the county of Pittsylvania State of Virginia of the 
one part & John Noble of the town, county & state aforesaid of the other 
part, witnesseth that the said William Barnett & Patsey his wife for and in 
consideration of the sum of sixty dollars, to them in hand paid by the sd 
John Noble (the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge) have this day
bargained granted sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto 
the said John Noble a certain house & lot containing one half acre of ground,
situated & being in the aforesaid town by number thirty together with all 
and singular the appointments thereunto belonging or in any way appertaining
to have and to hold the said hounse and lot of ground together with the 
appertainances to the said John Noble, his heirs & assigns forever, to the 
only proper use and ... of him the sd John Noble his heirs & assigns forever
and the sd William Barnett & Patsey his wife do for themselves their heirs 
assigns forever warrant & defend to the sd John Noble his heirs & assigns 
the right & title to the said house & lot of groung against the claim or 
claims of them the sd Wm Barnett & Patsey his wife their heirs etc & against
the claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever in witness whereof 
the sd Wm Barnett & Patsey his wife have hereunto set their hand & affixed 
their seals the day & year first above written.

Patsey Barnett could not travel to the court to sign the deed. Two witnesses
were to go to her and question her about signing away her right of dower.
