PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VIRGINIA - DEED BOOK 13 Ptttsylvania County, Virginia Deed Book 13 p. 272 This Indenture made this twenty first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and two between Charles Anderson of Nottoway County of the one part, Roger Atkinson of Chesterfield County of the second part, and Thomas & Robert Atkinson of Dinwiddie County of the third part, Witnesseth that the said Charles Anderson is Justly indebted to the said Thomas & Robert Atkinsons in the sum of three hundred and thirty six pounds current money of Virginia, and the said Charles Anderson for and in consideration of the promises and of the sum of six shillings to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained sold aliened conveyed released and confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain and sell align convey release and confirm unto Roger Atkinson aforesaid the tract of land lying on Cane Creek in Pittsylvania County, containing by survey three hundred acres it being the same land which the said Charles Anderson purchased of the aforesaid Thomas & Robert Atkinsons by deed bearing even date with these presents to have and to hold to him the said Roger Atkinson and his heirs forever. But upon this especial trust and confidence that the said Roger Atkinson or his heirs shall and may at any time after the twenty fifth day of November one thousand eight hundred and four, at the request of the said Thomas & Robert Atkinson or either of them, sell at publick sale for ready money the above tract of land or so much thereof as will be sufficient to raise the amount that may be then due, notice of the time and place of sale have been previously given for three weeks in the Petersburg papers and out of the proceeds of such sale pay and satisfy the debt aforesaid together with the interest that may arise thereon and all expenses attending the ...of this deed and the overplus of the money if any pay & satisfy to the said Charles Anderson or his order. In witness whereof the said Charles Anderson and Roger Atkinson have hereunto subscribed their names and affixed their seals the day and year first above mentioned. Thomas Osborne (as to R.A) At a court held for Dinwiddie County on Monday the 20th day of December 1802 this deed of trust between Charles Anderson of Nottoway County & Roger Atkinson of Chesterfield County was proved by the oath of Reuben Wells & Samuel Challender two of the witnesses thereto and at another court held for the said county on Monday the 17th day of January 1803 the same was fully proved by the oath of Edward Bland & ordered to be certified to the court of Pittsylvania for record.
