Witness that the wife of said parties of the first has for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen hundred dollars to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged to grant unto the said Overton Pugh a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania and estimated to contain five hundred eighty acres more or less, it being the tract of land sold by James H. Keatts, Trustee under a deed of trust and belonging to Robert Adams, said land lies on both sides of Reed Creek adjoining the lands of William Payne & others and bounded as follows: Beginning at a pine on the Lynchburg Road in Patsy Mustains line, there along Adkersons lines of 23ø W and 198poles crossing a branch to a white oak and Painters L 3ø w 116 « poles crossing tow branches to a pine, thence Irbys new line run by consent of parties W 92 poles, crossing Reed Creek to Black Oak, thence S 12ø W 32 poles to a Post Oak in Reuben Payne's old line 83ø W22 poles to a large Post Oak west 77 poles to a Chestnut 30ø w 279 « poles to a pine S 33ø196 poles, crossing said creek to a Locust S 73ø E 320 poles crossing a branch to the place of the beginning. The said John Robertson doth covenant to and with said Overton Pugh that he will warrant generally the property hereby conveyed. Lovelace a notary public in & for the county aforesaid in the state aforesaid do certify that Elvira, wife of Dr. John Robertson whose names are signed to the writings above, bearing date on the 16th day of May 1863 personally appeared before me in the county aforesaid and being examined by me privately and apart from her husband and hearing the (unk word) aforesaid fully explained to her, she, the said Elvira acknowledged the said writing to be her act and declared that she have willingly executed the same & does not wish to retract it.
