Parrish and Jane his wife , and Sophia Parrish all of the county of Pittsylvania and State of Virginia of the one part (to) Isham GRIFFEY of the county and state aforesaid of the second part. MITCHELL and HENRY MITCHELL attorney for JESSE H> PARRISH and Jane his wife formerly Jane Mitchell, Martha Mitchell and John R. PARRISH who intermarried with Nancy Mitchell now deceased of the first part and (to) Coalman D. BENNETT trustee for Catharine J. Roach the wife of Joshua P. Roach, and her children of the second part whereas the said Henry Mitchell and Jane A. Mitchell for themselves and the said Henry Mitchell attorney for the parties aforesaid have this day sold and by these presents doth sell and convey to the said Coalman D. Bennett trustee as aforesaid one ninth part of the tract of land owned by Henry MITCHELL at the time of his death and held or owned by Mary Mitchell wife of the said Henry Mitchell during her life the whole tract containing one hundred ninety two acres be the same more or less lying and being in the county of Pittsylvania and adjoining the lands of THOS. W. WOODING , Avory MUSTAIN , Stephen DAVIS and others at the price of fifty dollars the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged the said Henry Mitchell and Jane A. Mitchell his wife by these presents covenants to and with the said Coalman D. Bennett trustee as aforesaid to warrant and defend to him the said Coalman D. BENNETT trustee as aforesaid a good and lawful right and title to the aforesaid one ninth part of the tract of land aforesaid free from the claim of themselves and their heirs and all and every person or person whomsoever witness the following signatures and seals. Mitchell Henry Mitchell Atty for and so forth In the clerks office of the county court of Pittsylvania county on the 2nd day of October 1857 the foregoing writing was acknowledged by Henry Mitchell to be his act and Jane A. Mitchell the wife of Henry Mitchell personally appeared before me and being examined by me privily and apart from her husband and having the writing aforesaid fully explained to her said Jane A. Mitchell acknowledged the said writing to be her act and deed and declared that she had willingly executed the same and does not wish to retract it the said writing was thereupon admitted to record. Parish who intermarried with Nancy Mitchell now deceased all of the county of Weakly and State of Tennessee do hereby nominate and appoint Henry Mitchell of the county of Pittsylvania and State of Virginia our Lawful Attorney in fact to demand and receive for us from one Joshua Roach or any other person or persons having possession of or liable for the same a legacy bequeathed to us or either of us or a distributive share which had descended to us from one Mary Mitchell now deceased late of the county of Pittsylvania and State of Virginia and all necessary receipts bonds and acquittances for us or either of us in our names to execute for and about the same whether the same be real or persaonal estate and to do all other acts and things necessary to accomplish the object of this power at our expense and charge. We do hereby ratify and confirm all the Lawful actings and doing of our said attorney in the premises as fully as if we were present and doing the same ourselves this the 4th day of November AD 1854.
