All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Jerry Taylor http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00011.html#0002716 October 20, 2008, 9:20 am Pittsylvania County Written: September 24, 1802 Bill of Sale Richard Gross to Samuel Fugua Date: Sept 24, 1802 Index Date: Dec 20, 1802 Pittsylvania County Deed Bk 13, Page 156 Know all men by these presents that I Richard Gross of Pittsylvania County and State of Virginia for and in Consideration of Seventy two pounds Current money of Virginia a sum for which Saml Fugua this day entered Security for in a Delivery Bond in that Consequence of an Execution David Bailey, plaintiff against ~ Richard Gross Defendant, that I Richard Gross for and in Consideration of the same do hereby Acknowledge that I have bargained Sold and delivered and doth bargin Sell and deliver to Saml Fugua, Three negroes namely, Let, Stephen, and Polley, and in case of Death or other failure in either of the above mentioned Negroes Jude and Nancy shall supply their place or places as the case may be and I do hearby warrand and forever defend the right and title of the same against the claim or claims of any & all person or or persons whatsoever, and doby these presents invest the Lawful right and little of the said Negroes to said Saml Fugua so long as he shall stand my security in the above mentioned case or until the above mentioned Debt and Cost is abolished, as Witness my hand and Seal this 24 day of September 1802. This Bill of Sale from Richard Gross to Samuel Fugua was presented in Court and proves by the Oaths of two of the Subscribing Witnesses to be the act and Deed of the said Richard, and by the Court Ordered to be Recorded Teste Will Turnstall c,p,c Additional Comments: Court Order index does not list the case of David Bailey Plaintiff against Richard Gross Defendant.
