Pittsylvania Co. ...where Clark sold in year 1856 certain lot and premises
lying in Town of Chatham . . . Lot #11 . . . to a certain John Doyle and

1911 - Pittsylvania Co. - DB 135, page 100-101 4/6/1911- Rec 4/19/1911 - R.
A. Lee, Sr. and his wife M. K. Lee to Ella V. Scruggs, both of Pittsylvania
Co. "$150 - parcel or lot of land adjoining the lands of W. L. Vaughan and
others containing fifty acres be same more or less beginning at the line of
H. C. Parker at the Junction of rail and post fence and running with said
fence by the old tobacco barns to the pasture fence, then by chops and blaze
to the corner of fence near the Spring hill gate and continuing with said
fence to the Vaughan line at the Black rock bluff, then East to Taylor's
ford road, then southerly with said road to Parker's line then westerly to
the beginning. Reservations that we the parties of the first part occupy and
hold the mansion house, garden, pasture and firewood and spring during their
natural life and at their death then the said Ella V. Scruggs to own the

1914 - Pittsylvania Co. DB 145, page 1 8/3/1914 - R. A. Lee and M. K. Lee to
John Scruggs - "$300 - said land being in the County and State aforesaid on
Staunton River and adjoining the lands of Henry C. Parker on the south,
beginning at the line of Mrs. Ella Scruggs and running West with said
Parker's line to the River and then with the River southeast to the line of
W. L. Vaughan, thence with old line south to the beginning" s/Rev. R. A.
