Murphy, 14 Mar 2001] p. 287 Murphey from Ridley Deed This Indenture made this ninth day of november in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred & Seventy eight Between George Ridley, of Pittsylvania County & Parish of Camden of the one part & George Murphey of the same County and Parish of the other part WitneSseth that the sd. George Ridley for & in Consideration of a Stallion Colt and eighty seven Pounds ten Shillings Current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said George Murphey the receipt whereof the said George Ridley Doth hereby acknowledge him self therewith fully Satisfied contented & paid hath granted bargained and sold & by these presents do grant bargain sell and confirm unto the sd. George Murphey and unto his heirs exno. Adms. & aSsigns forever on Certain tract or parcel of Land Containing two hundred & thirty eight acres more or LeSs, Lying & being in the County of Pittsylvania on both sides of great Cherrystone Creek & bounded as followeth (to wit) beginning at Pointers in Parsons line on a branch thence on his line north eighty four degrees east seventy Poles croSsing sd. Creek to his Corner Pointers thence the same Course Continued twenty poles to a white oak thence new Lines ten Degrees east one hundred & sixty Poles to Pointers north thirty two Degrees west CroSsing tow branches p. 288 one hunded & forty Poles to a white oak West one hundred poles CroSsing the Creek to an oak south ten Degrees east three hundred & thirty four poles CroSsing a fork of sd Creek to a white oak on a branch thence down the branch to the first Station-- To have & to hold the said two hundred & thirty eight acres of Land more or LeSs in the bounds above mentioned with the appertenances thereunto belonging to the said George Murphey and unto his heirs or and aSsigns forever & the sd George Ridley for himself & his heirs do Covenant & agree with the sd. George Murphey the sd. Land above mentioned will warrant & forever defend unto the said George Murphey and to his heirs & aSsigns forever the above mentioned Land & premises thereunto belonging.
