VA Pittsylvania County, Va. 20 Nov 1846 Mr. David Waller Dear Sir I have got the money was owing to you have received $58..91cents of Henry Mitchell $10..70 cents of ?Deduthun Carter $26..16 cents of Griffith Dickerson the commissioner who sold the Mountain Land. Dr Carter would not pay what he owes and I sold the claim for $27. whitch was a discount of ten pr cent whitch was the very best I could do. Whitch makes $122..77 cents and I paid the post master 20 cents for the first power of attorney you sent me and I paid the clerk 75 cents for recording the power of attorney and I pay myself $1..62 cent for my trouble whitch leaves you $120.. and according to your directions I now send you the one half of a $100 note and the one half of a $20 note by mail and when you receive them I want you to send me a receipt for $120. infulls of your interest in your Fathers and Mothers estate. When you do that I will then send you the other half of the note by mail. [unreadable] the parties here have been very rigid with me about receipts the reason why I am so with you. [Signed] Edward H.
