Friend, Deputy Clerk of Circuit Court of Pittsylvania-Oct. 8 1934: Dear Madam: Your application for pension was not signed by Judge Clement at the September Term 1934: and bears the following notation by the Judge "Information not sufficient. J. T. O." Your application states that your husband was in 16th VA Calvery. I have a certificated from the state library stating that one Davis Alderson was in Co. F--37th Regt. Virginia inf. known as "Glade Springs Rifles" of Washington County. Do you know of any one who actually knows that your husband did serve the confederacy; if so you can get this person to sign your application I believe you would stand a good chance of having your pension allowed. Yours very truly, E. E. Friend, Deputy Clerk 2nd letter from same as above dated Oct. 13, 1934: Dear Mrs. Kizer: I see from your letter that Mr. Bausoll was in the war with Mr. Davis Christopher Alderson. If you will have Mr. Bausoll fill in and sign certificate (B) affidavit of comrade and swear to same before some officer and return to me I believe the court will allow this pension. Mr. Bausoll signed certificate of Camp of Confederate Veterans but did not sign affidavit of comrades. Return all attached papers to me before the third monday in November as court will take under consideration the pension at that time. Embry E. Friend
