Letter to Mr. E. R. Combs, dated June 1, 1929 from W. H. H. Cocke:

Dear Sir: 
    so far as to Mr. James P. Johnson was enrolled in Company C, Va Reserves I 
only knew him as Powhatam Johnson and I know he did service and always answered 
to roll call to that name and I know this is the same man and until today I did 
not know that his name was James Powhatan Johnson,
