Lipscomb Pittsylvania County, Va--Sycamore Member Of:2nd Va Cavalry, Company F, Private Letter In File To Auditor Of Public Accounts Dated Oct. 7, 1912 From Toshes, Va: My Dear Sir: I Was Over To See Mother (Mrs. Martha M. Mattox) Yesterday. Found Her In Receipt Of Your Letter Dated Aug. 10, 1912 Which Is Was So Glad To See As I Have Been Trying So Hard To Get Her A Pension Of Which She Is So Much Entitled To. Your Letter Stated That You Had No Later Record Of My Father Than June 30th, 1864. I Will Send You Some Of His Letters One Yellow One Dated Feb. 24, 1865. This Letter Shows Where He Was At That Time And At The Colse Of The War, He Was At Home On A Horse Furlow. This Last Statement Is One Made By Mother And J. W. J. Ayers, An Old Soldier. If This Is Not Satisfactory, I Will Try To Give You Any Other Information You Might Need. So Far As I Can Learn, My Father Was A Faithful Soldier From The Begining Of The War To The End. Mother Is Now 86 Years Old And Very Much In Need. Please Do All You Can For Her Hoping All Things Are In Her Favor. Please Let Me Hear From You By Return Mail. Very Respectfully, (Mrs.) J. E.
