WILL OF ROBERT ADAMS, 1783 - Pittsylvania Co. VA In the Name of God Amen I Robt Adams of Pittsylvania County being much indispos'd and weak in body but enjoying my usual reason and memory -- and calling to mind the mortality of Man do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. First my Souls desire is to assend and rest with Almighty God which gave it, Also my desire is that my body should be decently buried Secondly I give and bequeath to my Son Absolom Adams one hundred Acres of Land, be the same more or less, that is to say, all my Land lying on the North side -- Banister River to him and his heirs for ever. Thirdly I give and bequeath to my -- Son Thos Adams my part of a Waggon and Geers which is now in the possession of -- my Son Absolom to him and his heirs for ever. Forthly I give and bequeath to my Son Elijah Adams all my Land lying on the south side said River it being the Land whereon I now live reserving to my wife Mournin Adams her lifetime in said Land on both sides said River As also I give to my said Son Elijah one sorrel Mare Also one feather Bed and firniture to him and his heirs for ever Fifthly I give and -- bequeath to my daughter Milley Adams one feather bed and firniture to her -- and her heirs for ever Sixthly I give and bequeath to my daughter Suckey one feather bed and firniture to her and her heirs for ever Seventhly I give and -- bequeath to my Grand daughter Molly Mead two Cows and Calves, two Ewes -- and Lambs as also six head of hogs to be firnish'd here when she comes of age out of my Estate and that she enjoy the same she and her heirs for ever. Eightly I give and -- bequeath to my youngest daughter Molly Adams one Negroe Boy called by the Name of Peter Also one feather Bed and firniture to her and her heirs for ever. Ninthly I lind to my well beloved wife Mournin Adams all my Estate not yet mention'd during her life and after the death of my wife my desire is that all the remainder of my Estate after paying to Molly Mead her Legacy be equally devided amoung my three Children, that is to say, Elijah, Milley and Suckey Also my desire is that if -- either of my Children last mentioned should die without heir that his or her part of my Estate which I have Willed to him or her shall still be equally devided between the survivers Also my Will and desire is that if the Negroe which I have left to my daughter Molley Adams should die before she comes to age that then she shall have an equal part of my Personal Estate with her brother Elijah Adams -- and her two Sisters Milley and Suckey Also my Will and desire is if she should die without heir that then the Negroe and Bed above mentioned shall desend to my -- Estate and be equally devided amoung my three children as above mentioned, that is to say, Elijah Adams, Milley Adams and Suckey Adams to them and their heirs for ever.
