Will of Jesse Anderson, 1862 Pittsylvania County, Virginia Will Book 2, p. 403 I Jesse Anderson of the County of Pittsylvania and State of Virginia being of sound mind and disposing memory and believing my death is near do make this my last will and testament. First I desire the tract of land upon which I formerly resided containing one hundred twenty three acres together with all of the stock of every description plantation tools should be held and used by my wife Catherine B. Anderson and Martha Anderson my daughter during their life times. After the death of my wife Catherine Anderson and daughter Martha Anderson I desire my effects to be equally divided between my son Samuel F. Anderson and daughter Nancy W. Anderson.
