Will of George Bell, 1823 I George Bell of the County of Pittsylvania make this my last will. First that all my debts be paid, and that my land and all my property with the exception of my negroes be sold on a credit of 12 months. That negro girl Hannah, be hired out for the benefit of my two youngest children, Martha and Adam, until they become of age. That negro man Jim be hired out for the benefit of all my children. I wish my children Washington, William, Nathan, Martha, and Adam, schooled and supported out of my estate, and the balance equally divided between them, when Adam is 21. I appoint Nathan Bell executor of my estate. In testimony of which I have hereunto affixed my hand and seal this 14th of February, 1823. George Bell. (Submitter Note: No mention was made of his wife, Nancy Barden (m. March 1813 Amelia Co marriage bond) so we presume she was dead. George Bell, after the birth of his last child, Adam Bell, moved from Henry to Pittsylvania Co. where he died between February 14, 1823 (the date of his will) and March 17, 1823 (the date his will was probated). His children were: George "Washington" Bell (b. January 3, 1814; d. November 24, 1893) John "William" Bell (b. October 23, 1815; d. ?) James "Nathan" Bell (b. August 13, 1817; d. 1892) Martha Barden Bell (b. May 23, 1819; d. 1845-1850 MO) Adam Bell (b.
