WILL OF JAMES BARNETT Senior PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VIRGINIA COURTHOUSE Dated: 16 Aug. 1804 Deed & Will Book 11 Pages 432, 433, 434 In the name of God amen I JAMES BARNETT Sen'r being advanced in years but of sound mind do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament. To my well beloved wife ANN BARNETT I lend on my death _________ negroes Namely Oto Peter James Violet Judith Patty and little Tim together with all my house hold & Kitchen furniture Two Horses Columbia and Dalton and all my stock of horses Cattle I hope at her death my will is that my Son WILLIAM BARNETT have the boy little Tim and my son THOMAS BARNETT have the horse Dalton and that all the Other Negroes above named together with their increase and the Household & Kitchen furniture and the be equally divided between my five children JOHN BARNETT WILLIAM THOMAS BARNETT BETSY WOODFOLK and NANCY CAMPBELL to my son JOHN BARNETT BARNETT I lend at my death four Negroes Namely old Glausten Cloe Grabret and Fanny and at his death them and their increase to his children I also bequeath him one mare Called Bald. To my son WILLIAM BARNETT I Lend at my death three Negroes little Glaucester G_________ Peter and Rose and at his death them and their increase to his children I also bequeath him one Called Maze and one lot of Black Smith tools To my son THOMAS BARNETT I lend at my death four negroes namely Sue Charles Hezekiah and Milly and at his death them and their increase to his children I also bequeath him one ______________. To Daughter BETSEY WOODFOLK five Negroes namely Nick Patrick Mary Galby and Watson which Negroes I lend her during her life and at her death them and their increase to her Heirs forever. To my daughter NANCY CAMPBELL I lend at my death three Negroes namely Harrison Louisa & Retta and at her death them and their increase to her heirs forever. I Will that all the money that Mieajak Davis of Richmond is endebted to me be Equally divided between JOHN BARNETT WILLIAM BARNETT and BETSY WOODFOLK. It is also my will and desire that no Inventory nor appraisement be made of my estate on my decease but that as soon as possible after this my Will is proven each Legatee may receive his Legacy as here in divided I appoint my Sons JOHN BARNETT WILLIAM BARNETT and THOMAS BARNETT Executors of this my last Will and Testament Signed this 16th day of August In the year 1804 and in the presents of (Signed) Robert Payne William Clarke CUSRIE BARNETT Signed: JAMES BARNETT In addition to the above my will is that all moneys due my by bond accounts but otherwise not spicefilly disposed of be collected for the use of my well beloved wife ANNE BARNETT and also all the moneys now in my possesion.
