PITTSYLVANIA County VIRGINIA Will Book 2 Page 224 Transcribed by Linda June COUSINS Winslager February 25 ,1997 I Willis G COUSINS ofthe county of Pittsylvania and state of Virginia being in bad health but of sound mind and disproving memory dohereby prounce thismy last will and testament. 1st I give unto my beloved wife Elizabeth COUSINS all the property I may possess at my death ^both real and personal tohave and tohold the same during her life or widowhood and in the event she should marry again then it is my will that all my property be equally divided amongmy children to wit, Richard H Cousins, Ann C Bousman, Francis R Cousins, Henry C Cousins, Phebe H Cousins, John C Cousins, Chastain Cousins, and Elizabeth R Cousins. Ann do hereby nominate and appoint my beloved wife Elizabeth COUSINS my adminatrative to carry to affect this my last will and testament. and do hereby ask permission of the court to allow her to administer without requiral her to give security. Willis G Cousins (SEAL) At a county court held for the county of Pittsylvania 16th day of February 1857 A writing bearing date 18th day of June 1855 purporting tobe the last will and testament of WillisG Cousins dec'd was produced in court and it appearing to the satisfaction of the court from the testimony of Thomas R McDearman Alexander H Rogers that the said writing is wholly in the hand writing of the said Cousins, it is ordered that the said writing be recorded And at another day to wit At a county court held for the said county on the 16th March 1857 on the motion of Elizabeth Cousins named as the exectrix of WillisG Cousins dec'd in his last will and testament to be made oath and with Nathaniel R Royall, and Vincent Witcher as her surities who made oath together suffiecincy entered into acknowledged a bond in the penality of eight thousand dollars conditioned accordingly to law certificate is granted her for obtaining probat ofsaid will indue form.
