WILL OF COLEMAN W. SCRUGGS, 1864 - Pittsylvania Co. VA


     In the Name of God, Amen.  I, Coleman W. Scruggs, of the County of Pittsylvania &
State of Virginia, being of sound mind & disposing memory, do make and declare this to be my
last will and testament as following:

     1st - I desire that after my death that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid.

     2nd - It is my will and desire that all of my estate should be kept together for the sole use
and maintenance of my wife during her natural life and at her death to be equally divided among
my children.

     3rd - It is my request that my monies or presents made to any of my children by me is not
to be charged to them in the final distribution of my estate.

     4th & Lastly - I appoint my wife Anne Scruggs as my executrix of this my last will and
testament.  In testimony, whereof, I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 22nd July, 1864.

     At a County Court held for the County of Pittsylvania on the 20th day of March 1865. 
The last will and testament of Coleman W. Scruggs, Decd, was proved by the two subscribing
witnesses and it is ordered that the same be recorded and on the motion of Anne Scruggs, the
Executrix, who made oath and with Morton Scruggs as her surety, who made oath to his
sufficiency entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of Four thousand dollars
conditioned according to law.  Certificate is granted her for obtaining probate of said will in due
form.
