Will of Henry A. Vaden, 1884 - Pittsylvania Co. VA Knowing the uncertainty of life and wishing to have no misunderstanding in regard to the disposition of my property after my death, I, Henry A. Vaden of the County of Pittsylvania and State of Virginia make this my last will and testament. I will to my two sons by my last wife, and if there should be any more sons born hereafter, all of my land in Pittsylvania County, and they are to have and to hold said land and not to dispose of it in any way whatsoever until the youngest boy becomes of age and my wife Janitee Vaden is to remain on said land and be supported therefrom as long as she lives or remains a widow and all my girl children by my last wife Janettee Vaden, are to remain as members of the family as long as they live or remain single. I also give to each of the said girls by said wife ($2.50) two dollars and fifty cents each. In the event of my wife dying before the youngest boy coming of age then the oldest if of lawful age shall act as guardian, and if neither of them should be of age at her death then there must be a Guardian appointed. All of my perishable property, viz: household and kitchen, stock of cattle, plantation tools etc. are to be kept for the mutual benefit of all in the event of my wife marrying, then she nor her husband shall have no control of any property named in this will. To my children by my first wife, namely Sarah Ann McDowell, Mary Jane Osborne, Letty Y. Wilkinson, Lucy W. Vaden, Martha Jones, Amanda Wilkinson, Gillia, Ann, Harriett, Alice and William, I give to each of the above named by my first wife the sum of $2.50 two dollars and fifty cents, feeling that I am perfectly sound and sane in mind I coolly and dispassionately make this my last will, hereby revoking all others. Vaden was this day offered for probate, whereupon it appearing to the Court from the evidence of Alfred Anderson and Jon H. Hubbard two of the witnesses to said paper, that said paper was not executed according to law it is ordered that said application to admit said paper to probate be rejected. Teste W. B.
