Tall marble slab bearing the following inscription:

Matthew McCoy
Died Dec. 22, 1856
Aged 56 years, 3 mos.
Green be the turf above thee, friend of my early days.
None knew thee but to love thee, none named thee but to praise
Stop my friends to take another view
The dust that moulders here, was once beloved like you
No longer then on future time rely, improve the present and prepare to die.
