HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Sacred to the Memory of Jesse Nicholson Patriot of the American Revolution A most Exemplary Christian Forty fie years a Minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church and A man loved and venerated for his many virtues Died 26th September 1834 In the 75th year of his age Also To the memory of Lucy Nicholson his wife A Christian adorned with the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit A friend of the poor and needy And a wife, worthy of so good a man Died in peace 22nd Feby 1832 in the 63rd year of her age Pastor of Monumental Church 1790 – 1791 Sacred to the Memory of Capt. James Hamilton A native of Scotland Born on the 5th of August 1760 Sacred to the Memory of Edmond Prior Who departed this life August 3, 1811 in the 28th year of his age Ah! Who can God’s high counsels read Who, __ will trust the Christian’s creed Dare judge a kindred spirit gone To bow before the Eternal’s throne That awful hour of pain and woe Which every parting soul must know May pure salvations form reveal And set the dear redeemers seal. also Sarah Prior wife of Edmond Prior Who died Feby 3rd Aged 47 years Leaving two daughters to mourn the loss of a kind indulgent and affectionate Mother. Why should we mourn departed friends Or shake off deaths claims Tis him the voice of Jesus sends To call them to his arms The grave of all his saints he blessed And softened every bed Where should the dying members rest But with their dying heads.
