Olive Baptist Church where she held membership since its founding. The rites were conducted by the pastor, the Rev. W. H. Copeland. Eulogistic remarks were given by James Long, representing the deacon board; Charles Smith of the trustee board; Mrs. Hattie Cherry, chairman of the female usher board, of which the deceased was an active member prior to her illness. Miss Lillian Jones read the family paper and obituary notices. Mrs. Josephine Mason rendered a solo. Rev. Mr. Copeland delivered the principal eulogy. There were beautiful floral tributes. Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery, with Reid’s Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Butler was a native and lifelong resident of Portsmouth. Her survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Annie Peeden and Mrs. Lizzie Connor; two nephews and two nieces.
