Ward, a well-known resident of the county, was found dead in bed at his home in Prentis Place yesterday morning. Mr. Ward was for a number of years engineer of the water company works at Godwin Street. At the time of his death he was employed in the navy yard. Mr. Ward was engaged with his brother-in-law's family in a friendly game of cards up to 11 p.m. Tuesday night. When he retired he never complained of feeling badly. Yesterday morning he was late coming to breakfast. One of the family, sent upstairs after him, entered the room, called several times, and receiving no answer attempted to waken him. Mr. Ward was dead. Mr. Ward had no family. His wife died about one year ago, leaving him without children. He was 55 years old. He was a member of Tidewater Lodge, I. O. O. F., and of the Brotherhood of Stationary Engineers. His funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon.
