Palmore Cemetery Location: .2 mile southeast of Pilkerton, Virginia on Route #603 Powhatan Co., Virginia DATE: Unknown. OWNERS: Unknown. DESCRIPTION: Liberty Church Site was located in a triangle of three counties, just over the Powhatan side, the others being Amelia and Chesterfield counties. The church was torn down many years ago and the material used to build Red Lane Church. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: There were a good many graves in the cemetery which is enclosed by wire fencing, but few are marked. There are the two oldest inscriptions: Mrs. Judith Gates wife of James R. Gates Died January 29, 1859 in the 74th year of her age Her children arise up and call her blessed, Her husband also, and he praiseth her. In memory of Martha E. wife of Robert Bass and only daughter of James R. and Judith Gates who departed this life on December 30, 1850 She opened her mouth with wisdom, On her tongue was the law of tenderness.
