Rust Cemetery Location: 3 miles east of Fine Creek, Virginia on Route #44; thence .8 mile northeast on private road to graveyard on south side of road. Powhatan Co., Virginia DATE: 1819. OWNERS: Mr. L. B. Thomas, present owner. [1937] DESCRIPTION: Only two graves are marked by stones with inscriptions. It has no graveyard fence. There are some ridges near these graves that possibly are unmarked graves. The stones are plain marble slabs with the following inscriptions. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Here lies Judeth D. consort of Thos. Merriman She departed this life April 1833 in the thirty eighth year of her age Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord. From henceforth yea, saith the spirit, that they may rest from their labors and their works do follow them. To the memory of Sarah W. Sublett who departed this life Jan. 29, 1819 age 17 years 11 mo.
