(Deed) Samuel Hyde Saunders to James Bagby Recorded Deed Book 1, page 150, Powhatan County, Virginia. This Indenture made this twentieth Day of July in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Eighty Between Samuel Hyde Saunders of the County of Powhatan of the one part and James Bagby of the aforesaid County of the other Part Witnesseth that the said Samuel Hyde Saunders for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred and fifty Pounds Current Money of Virginia to him in Hand paid by the said James Bagby the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge He the said Samuel Hyde Saunders have granted bargained sold aliened Enfeoffed & confirmed unto the said James Bagby his Heirs and Assigns forever one Certain Tract or Parcel of Land Situate lying & being in the County of Powhatan Containing Three Acres be the same more or less; Bounded as follows Vizt. Begining at a white Oak on Solomons Creek thence North Seventeen & half Degrees to a Sweet Gum thence Twelve poles to an Sweet Gum Thence forty Poles to a Sweet Gum at the Creek thence across the said Creek up the Hill to a Sweet Gum on the Old road thence along the old road the Old Line thence back on the Old line to the Creek, thence up the said Creek to the first Station; Also all Woods Ways Waters courses profits & appurtenances unto the Same belonging or in any wise appertaining, And the Reversion & Reversions, Remainder & Remainders, every part and Parcel thereof To have and to hold the said Tract or Parcel of Land and Premises with the Appurtenances unto the said James Bagby his Heirs and Assigns forever To the only proper use and behoof of him the said James Bagby his Heirs & Assigns forever. And the said Samuel Hyde Saunders doth for himself his heirs Executors & Administrators Covenant & agree with the said James Bagby that the said Samuel Hyde Saunders will Warrant & forever Defend the said parcel of Land and premises with the Appurtenances & every part and parcel thereof unto the said James Bagby his Heirs and Assigns in fee Simple against the Estate Right Title property Claim Demand of him the Said Samuel Hyde Saunders or any other Person or Persons Whatsoever Claiming by through from or under him the said Samuel Hyde Saunders will by these presents forever Defend the above Granted premises and Appurtenances In Witness whereof the said Samuel Hyde Saunders hath Set his Hand and Seal the Day and Year above Written. Memorandum that on the twentieth Day of July Anno Domin One thousand seven hundred & eighty Quiet & peaceable possession and Seizen of the within mentioned Land to be granted was had and taken by the said Samuel Hyde Saunders and by him was Delivered unto the said James Bagby in the proper Persons according to the tenor form and Effect of the within written Deed. At a Court held for Powhatan County the twentieth Day of July Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and eighty This Deed of Indenture of bargain and Sale together with the Memorandum from Samuel Hyde Saunders to James Bagby was acknowledged by the said Samuel and ordered to be recorded.
