(Deed) Henry Bagby to James Bagby Recorded Deed Book 1, page 508, Powhatan County, Virginia. This Indenture made this fourteenth day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Eighty nine Between Henry Bagby of the County of Powhatan of the one part and James Bagby of the county aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Henry Bagby for and in consideration of the Sum of Five Shillings current Money of Virginia (but more especially for the affection he hath for the said James Bagby his Son) the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge Hath Sold, Aliened, Remised, Enfeoffed and confirmed And by these presents doth grant bargain Sell Convey, Release and confirm unto the said James Bagby One certain Tract or parcell of Land lying and being in the County of Powhatan containing Fifty five Acres be the same more or less, and bounded as follows to witt, by the Lands of William Cox, John Cox, and Mahook Creek which said Fifty five Acres of Land lies on the Western Side the said Creek being part of the Land and plantation whereon the said Henry Bagby now lives To have and to hold the said granted Land and all and Singular the privileges, Advantages, and Appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining unto him the said James Bagby his Heirs or Assigns, to the only proper use and behoof of him the said James Bagby his Heirs or Assigns forever. And the said Henry Bagby doth by these presents for himself, his Heirs Executors or Admrs. covenant and agree to and with the said James Bagby his Heirs, Executors Administrators or Assigns to warrant and forever defend the said Tract of Land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said James Bagby his Heirs and assigns forever against any Claim of him the said Henry Bagby or any person or persons claiming by, through, from, or under him the said Henry Bagby and also against all and every claim or demand of any person or persons whatsoever, of, in or to the said Land and premises. At a Court hold for Powhatan County the XVI Day of May 1789 This Deed of Gift from Henry Bagby to his Son James Bagby was presented in open Court and acknowledged by the said Henry Bagby to be his Act & Deed which was by the Court Ordered to be Recorded.
