GOODMAN October 28, 1847 Powhatan County, Virginia Book 17 page 357 This Indenture made and entered into this 28 day of October One Thousand eight hundred and forty seven between William A. HASKINS and Mary Ann his wife of the county of Powhatan and state of Virginia of the one part and Littleton B. GOODMAN of said County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnessed that for and in the consideration of seventy five bushels of good and Merchantable wheat to the said William A. HASKINS paid and delivered by the said Littleton B. GOODMAN at or before the recording and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said William A. HASKINS and Mary Ann his wife have given, granted, bargained, sold covenant and confirm unto the said Littleton B. GOODMAN his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the aforesaid County of Powhatan, containing by ______ survey of William P. TATUM, eight acres and bounded as follows: Beginning at corner white oak on said HASKINS and GOODMAN and running by a newly chopped line N 40 2 degrees E, 84 poles to a corner post oak on James ISBELL, thence on said ISBELL, S 75 degrees W, fifty six poles, to a stake on said ISABELL and GOODMAN; thence on said GOODMAN due South 49 2 poles to the beginning. To have and to hold the above grants and sold tract or parcel of land together with and singular its appurtenances and privileges forever. And the said William A. HASKINS and Mary Ann his wife for themselves their heirs ______ ______ or assigns the said tract or parcel of land with all and singular it appurtenances and privileges unto the said Littleton B. GOODMAN, his heirs and assigns free from the claim or claims of the said William A. HASKINS and Mary Ann his wife and their heirs and all and every men person or persons whatsoever, shall and will warrant and do forever defend by their presents.
