William Randolph and wife, Anne Randolph
to
Martin Tucker

Recorded in Deed Book 4, page 432, Powhatan County, Virginia.

This Indenture made this 20th day of February in the year of
Christ Eighteen hundred and twelve Between William Randolph and
his wife Anne of the county of Henrico of the one part and Martin
Tucker of the county of Powhatan of the other; Witnesseth, that
for and in consideration of the sum of three thousand four
hundred and eighty four . . . dollars and twenty five cents
current money of Virginia to the said William Randolph in hand
paid by the said Martin Tucker, the receipt whereof the said
Randolph doth hereby acknowledge, hath granted bargained, sold,
and conveyed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, and
convey unto the said Martin Tucker his heirs and assigns a
certain tract or parcel of land containing four hundred and
ninety seven acres and three fourths of an acre, be the same more
or less, lying and being in the County of Powhatan and a part of
the tract known by the name of Fighting Creek, and bounded as
follows, to wit, Beginning at pointers on the Estate of William
Elam decd. and Richard Archer decd. and the said William
Randolph, South thirty degrees West one hundred and seventy and a
half chain to a corner and (sic) the estate of Wm: Elam, from
thence south seventy seven and a half degrees East eighty chains
to Elam's branch; South thirty eight degrees East fourteen and a
half chains along the meanders of said Branch South eighty five
degrees East fifteen chain according to the meanders of said
branch, South sixty three degrees East thirty four chain along
meanders of said branch, South twenty eight degrees west four
chains to a corner Beach standing on the South side of said
branch on the estate of said Elam From thence south ten and a
half degrees West four chains to pointers on the said Randolph's
line and the line of the said Elam's estate from thence south
sixty five degrees East thirty six chain and thirty five links to
a corner white oak on the said Randolphs, from thence eighty six
and a half degrees East sixteen chains to a corner on the said
Randolphs, from thence south eighty and one fourth degrees East
twenty nine and a half chains to a corner sweet gum on the said
Randolph, from thence up the ditch as it meanders north eighteen
degrees west sixteen chains, North nineteen degrees West thirty
chain and twenty links, North thirty two and a half degrees West
ten chain, North nine degrees West sixteen chains North twelve
degrees East twenty four chain, North four degrees West eight
chain forty links, North fifteen and a half degrees West eight
and half chains to a white oak standing upon the side of the said
ditch and a corner upon the said Randolph from thence North
seventy and a half degrees West one hundred and thirty seven
chains to the beginning; To have and to hold the said tract or
parcel of land with the appurtenances thereto belonging to him
the said Martin Tucker his heirs and assigns to the only proper
use and behoof of the said Martin Tucker his heirs and assigns
forever; and the said William Randolph and his wife, for
themselves their heirs Executors and administrators doth hereby
covenant and agree to and with the said Martin Tucker his heirs
and assigns that he the said William Randolph and his wife Anne
and their heirs the said tract or parcel of land with its
appurtenances as also the free use, right title, and benefit of
the ditch which runs between the said Tucker and Randolph, unto
him the said Martin Tucker his Heirs and assigns against them the
said William Randolph and his wife Anne and their heirs, and
against all persons whomsoever shall and will by these presents
forever warrant and defend. In witness whereof the said William
Randolph and Anne his wife have hereunto set their hands and
affixed their seals the day and year above written. Signed by Wm:
Randolph and witnessed by John Matthews, Thom. Blunt, Martin
Tucker, Junr. and Charles Povall.  

At a Court of Monthly Sessions held for the county of Powhatan on
the 18th day of March in the year 1812. This Indenture of bargain
and sale from William Randolph to Martin Tucker was presented in
Court and proven to be the act and deed of the said William
Randolph by the oath of John Matthews a subscribing witness
thereto, and was ordered to be continued for further proof. And
at a Court of Quarterly Sessions began & held for the said county
on the 15th day of April following, the said deed was again
presented in Court and was further proved by the oath of Charles
Poval also a subscribing witness thereto, and was again ordered
to be continued for further proof. And at another Court of
Quarterly Session began and holden for the said county on the
21st day of October 1812. The said deed was again presented in
Court & further and fully proven by the oath of Thompson Blunt
another subscribing witness thereto and was thereupon ordered to
be recorded.
