Imprimis, I will that my just debts be paid and my body decently intered at the discretion of my executors herein after named. Item I give unto my beloved wife, Elizabeth Moseley the plantation and tract of land wherein I now live containing four hundred acres during her natural life and at her death unto my son Benjamin Moseley to him and his heirs forever; I also give unto my said wife during her life the following negroes Viz. Bowser, Lucy and child Sall, Cate and two children Pat and Billey, Abram and Jude, Agg & Nan; also half of my stock of cattle, the whole of my stock of horses, sheep, hogs, etc; also the whole of my household and kitchen furniture, (except what is herein after willed to my grand son Arthur Moseley) likewise the crop now on hand and plantation tools of every kind, and at her death to be equally divided among my children Viz. John Moseley, Francis Harris, Arthur Moseley and Benjamin Moseley to them and their heirs forever. Item I desire that the tract of land adjoining the one I now live on Viz. called Whorley's tract judged Ninety three acres be sold at the discretion of my executors and the money divided among my above named children equally. Item I give to my grandson Arthur Moseley one negro girl named Molly, one bed and furniture and one cow and calf to him and his heirs severally forever. Postremo I do nominate and appoint my sons John, Arthur and Benjamin Moseleys, also my son in law Thomas Harris executors of this my last will & testament revoking all former wills, and desire there be no appraisment of my estate. Moseley & Elisha Maxey subscribing witnesses thereto & thereupon ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Thos. Harris an executor therein named who qualified as such by making oath thereto & having entered into bond with security conditioned as the law directs certificate for obtaining probate thereof is granted him in due form. Moseley Memphis, TN (5th great grandson of John Moseley) Will Book 2, Page 427 Will of John Baugh, Sr. In the name of God Amen, I, John Baugh, Sr. of the county of Powhatan being in my right mind, senses and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament made and ordained by me. Imprimis, It is my desire to be interred in a decent and Christian like manner at the discretion of my executors herein after named and after my just debts and funeral charges are paid I dispose of my estate in the following manner: ITEM: I lend unto my beloved wife Ann Baugh during her natural life the whole of my tract of land and plantation whereon I now live and at her decease it is my will that my said tract of land shall be sold by my executors to the best advantage and the money arising from the sale thereof to be equally divided among my three following named children, George Baugh, Archibald Bolling Baugh and Ann Eggleston Baugh to them and their heirs and assigns forever. I also direct that my slaves, stock, household and kitchen furniture, plantation utensils and all my personal estate of every description, shall remain in the possession of my said wife during her natural life for her support (except such legacies as I have heretofore given up to sundries of my children) which as I shall more particularly mention hereafter in this will and at the decease of my said wife it is my will that my said slaves and all the personal estate which I have lent to her shall be sold to the best advantage and the money arising from the sale or the same be disposed of in the following manner. ITEM: It is my will that my executors at the decease of my said wife out of the money arising from the sale of my estate pay to my two following named sons, to-wit John Baugh and William Baugh the sum of two hundred pounds current money to each of my said sons John and William to them and their heirs forever. ITEM: It is my will that the sum of one hundred and twenty-five pounds be raised out of my estate as soon as the situation of my wife will admit without distressing her and my infant children and paid by my executors to my son John Baugh which is to make him equal with my others sons to him my said son John Baugh and his heirs forever. ITEM: I do hereby confirm a right to certain slaves which I have formerly given to my son Richard Baugh and have not until now made him a right and title to them but have heretofore put them in his possession, Will, Kit, Phaeba, with all her former and future increase, Sukey with her former and future increase also Joe, Sucky and Polly descendants of Nancy all which slaves I devise to my said son Richard Baugh ad his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my daughter Rebeccah Goode, the following named slaves, to-wit, Polly and her four following named children, George, Edmund, Elisa and Sam also a girl by the name of Nancy, the daughter of Patience, to her my said daughter Rebeccah and her heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my son William Baugh my three following named slaves to-wit, Sam, Oliver and Salley to him my said son William and his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: It is my wish that my son George Baugh should remain with his Mother and superintend the business of the plantation and assist his said Mother during her life and that a salary be allowed him at the discretion of his said Mother. ITEM: I lend to my daughter Ann Eggleston Baugh, when she arrives to eighteen years of age or marries my Negro Lucy and her three children Adam, Dolly and John, also one feather bed and furniture and a horse and saddle during the natural life of my said wife and at her decease it is my will that wherever may be remaining at that period of the property loaned to my said daughter Ann Eggleston Baugh shall revert to my estate again. ITEM: I do hereby appoint my friend Jacob Michaux and my two sons Richard Baugh and John Baugh to execute and fulfill this my last will and testament. And lastly it is my will and desire that there may be no appraisement made of my estate, In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty-third day of November in the year Anno Domini, one thousand eight hundred and five.
