(7:284) November 1787 William Davis vs. William Morgan & John M. Taggart - nature of case not given. Taggart confessed in April 1788, and the petition was dismissed as related to him only. (8:456) May 1789 Davis Booker vs. William Morgan - George Booker provided bail. (9:127) August 1789 plaintiff failed to prosecute, case dismissed. (10:95) May 1800 John Morgan vs. Reuben Guill & Christopher H. Holland. Defendants failed to appear and were ordered to pay 24 pounds + 6% annual interest from 1 March 1799. (11:11) August 1807 William Morgan & John Taggart vs. James Taylor - plaintiffs agreed to assume court costs. (11:331) August 1818 William Blake vs. James Morgan - parties agreed to allow a final determination to be made by Jesse Michaux, William Baldwin & Samuel Baldwin. (12:69) March 1819 - William Lindsay & William Barkley were named additional referees. (12:138). No resolution recorded through November 1820. (12:466) December 1818 Joseph H. Morgan vs. Richard Omohundro - appeal of judgment made 8 August 1818 for $10 plus interest from 20 December 1817 and $1.22 in court costs. Robert Venable provided security. The appeal was denied and judgment was upheld. (12:120) March 1819 Robert Morgan vs William A. Lilley - Andrew Lumpkin provided bail. (12:150) May 1819 - defendant was ordered to pay $300 +6% interest from 18 August 1818. (12:181) July 1819 Robert Morgan vs. William A. Lilley & James Madison. Defendants failed to appear and were ordered to pay $310.59 +6% from 17 June 1819. (12:192) July 1819 Joseph H. Morgan vs. Martin & John Hurt - The court determined that Martin Hurt was not a resident of Virginia. It was ordered that notice demanding his appearance at November court be printed in newspapers in Richmond for 2 months as well as being posted on the courthouse door. In the mean time, John Hurt was ordered not to spend any money or convey any effects belonging to Martin Hurt that may now be in his possession. (12:209) November 1819 - Martin Hurt failed to appear. Court repeated its previous orders, this time requesting Hurt's appearance the following March. (12:287) August 1819 Theophilus & Amelia Floyd and their friend John Farguson vs. Joseph H. Morgan - for trespass. Referred to next court. (12:241) November 1819 - John P. Richardson provided security for plaintiffs. (12:273) No resolution through November 1820 (12:479). March 1820 William Morgan vs. Jane Wooton, William Harrison, Thomas J. Wooton & Stephen Dupuy, surviving obligor of themselves and William H. Wooton. (12:335) November 1820 - jury appointed, including Joseph H. Morgan, but referred to next term. (12:480) May 1820 John M. Cunningham, Thomas W. Glasson, Robert Hill & James Mickle, commissioners for the estate of Henry Young, deceased vs. Joseph H. & James Morgan - defendants acknowledged debt of 54 pounds 8 shillings 11 pence, which they were ordered to pay plus 6% interest from 2 December 1813. (12:354) November 1820 Josiah Cunningham vs. Joseph H. Morgan - defendant acknowledged the debt of $60.84. Court reduced this sum to $30.42 +6% interest from 21 August 1820, to be paid by December. (12:450) November 1820 Sherwood & Polly Silvey vs. Joseph H. Morgan - for trespass, assault & battery. Defendant made counter claim that plaintiffs assaulted him and that he was defending himself.
