This is to certify that I have examined E. S. Barton and find him disabled to some extent from a wound in arm just below the shoulder produced by a large ball passing through it during the war. Virginia; In the County Court of Prince Edwar County, March Term 1886 Upon the application E S Barton for aid under an act of the General Assembly, approved February 25, 1884, entitled "An act to give to the citizens of Virginia wounded and maimed during the late war, while serving as Soldiers or Marines." The Court having carefully considered the written application of the said ES Barton verified by his oath, ad the evidence adduced in suport of said application, is of opinion that the said Barton is entitled to aid under said act, and directs the said application and all the evidence in the case to be certified to the Auditor of Public Accounts. (Here insert the application and evidence.) The applicant E.S. Barton for comutaion declares upon oath that he served in Company C Old Dominion Rifles 53 Virginia Regiment leapt Dickerson and that he was wounded at Willis House on James River in right side and right arm and is incapacitated from doing manual labor by reaso of said wounds. He Furthermore declares that he has never applied nor received any communtation money from this state or the United States. Appended is the Certificate of Dr. H. A. Vaughan. C.G. Weaver stated on oath that he served with him the applicant & John E. Dungan swore that the applicant was wounded the 16th of May 1863.
