Hamlin Cemetery Location: 3.5 miles south of Petersburg, Virginia, on Route #301; thence west on Route #629, 1.9 miles. Graveyard about 500 yards south of Route #629. Prince George Co., Virginia DATE: 1827, date of oldest grave [marker] OWNERS: On the farm of L. R. Mathews, who bought it in 1919 from Joseph H. Birdsong. [1937] DESCRIPTION: This graveyard is in a field and is about twenty-five feet square. The graves are covered with honeysuckle and bushes. There are a number of graves but only two have tombstones. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The inscriptions on the tombstones are as follows: In memory of Mary wife of Burwell Aldridge Born Dec. 30, 1777 and died Dec. 25, 1827 Aged 50 yr. and 5 days She was beloved in life, regretted in death and died without an enemy. In memory of George R.
