Baxter graveyard: 1937 June 18 Research made by Elsie D. Hamlin Cemetery Location: 8 miles south of Petersburg, Virginia, on Route #301; thence 1 mile west on Route #607; thence 25 feet south of Route #607. Prince George Co., Virginia DATE: 1830. OWNERS: Joseph Woods, is the present owner. [1937] DESCRIPTION: This graveyard is about ten feet square and is grown up with bushes and honeysuckle. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: There are no tombstones, but Mrs. Harvey Carter says that her grandfather, Benjamin T. Baxter, who was born June 5, 1830 and died June 13, 1880, and her grandmother Mary L. Baxter, who was born December 28, 1834 and died January 1, 1869, are buried here. It is said that a Wicks family and Alley family owned the property many years ago and that members of their families are buried here, but the dates it was owned by them cannot be learned and the records were destroyed during the War Between the States.
