Birchett graveyard: 1937 July 16 Research made by Elsie D. Hamlin Cemetery Location: 1.3 miles west of Prince George Courthouse, on Route #37; thence .9 mile south on Route #630; thence about 10 feet east of Route #630. Prince George Co., Virginia DATE: 1815, date of oldest grave [marker] OWNERS: The earliest date which could be established on the property, due to the records having been destroyed during the War Between the States, was 1871 when it was sold by S. J. Birchett to George E. Perkinson. In 1888 it was sold for delinquent taxes. In 1908 it was bought by T. C. Johnson from W. D. Temple, the Clerk of the Circuit Court. In 1909 James West, Sr., bought it and in 1910 he died leaving it to his son, James West, Jr. In 1919 Fannie Temple bought it from F. A. Eppes, trustee for James West, and the same year she sold it to Joseph Temple. In 1922 it was bought by Emmett Hines, the present owner. [1937] DESCRIPTION: The graveyard is about ten feet square and is grown up in honeysuckle and cedar trees. Only one grave has a tombstone. The site of the Birchett home is near the graveyard. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The following inscription is found on the tombstone: Sacred to the memory of Alexander E.
