Cemetery Location:  Go 1.1 miles north of Disputanta, Virginia on Route #618; 
                    thence 3.1 miles northwest on Route #629; thence .3 mile 
                    east on Route #635, thence .1 mile north of road #635.
                    Prince George Co., Virginia

House built 1820.

OWNERS:

William G. Birchett sold this property to John F. Brockwell on January 1, 1846.  
He sold it to James F., and Jane Hugh on November 13, 1854.  James F. and Janie 
Hugh Brockwell sold it back to John F. Brockwell on January 10, 1856.  It was 
then sold to Patrick H. Clark on May 10, 1872.  By inheritance it was received 
by Laura E. Clark and her husband, John B. Lee.  It was sold by them to D’Osie 
V. Clark and her husband, Elmer L. Fleming, October 3, 1911.  They are the 
present owners. [1937]

DESCRIPTION:

About 200 yards north of the house there is a Brockwell family graveyard.

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE:

This home was built about 1820 by John Brockwell, the father of the first 
Brockwell, who owned it.  Since that date it has been the home of the 
Brockwells, the Clarks and the Flemings.

The estate was originally a portion of an old Quaker homestead, and is located 
on the old Quaker Road.

Mrs. Fleming gave the names of the following who are buried in the Brockwell 
graveyard:

John F. Brockwell      1870
George Clark           1897
Patrick H. Clark       1910
Virginia Clark         1919
Julia D. Fleming       1919
William S. Fleming     1924
