Harrison Cemetery Location: .2 mile east of Prince George, Virginia, on Route #37; thence 3.6 miles southeast on Route #616; thence 30 yards south of Route #616. Prince George Co., Virginia DATE: 1822, date of oldest grave. [marker] OWNERS: This graveyard is on property once belonging to Rev. Thomas B. Bryant. It was inherited by his children, and in all deeds, after being sold out of the family on May 10, 1872, it is reserved for the Bryant family. DESCRIPTION: This Bryant graveyard is a plot of ground sixty by sixty feet, in an open field. It is very unkept, and has been allowed to grow up in honeysuckle, briers and large trees. In the middle there stands a willow oak, which measures seventeen feet and four inches in circumference. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: In Memory of Rev. Thos. B. Bryant Died March 31, 1841 in the 63rd year of his age For more than 39 years he was a follower of Christ. And for more than 23 years a parish minister of his word in the Methodist Episcopal Church. Mark the perfect man and behold the upright for the end of that man is peace. Psalms 37-37 In Memory of Mrs. Sarah wife of Rev. T. B. Bryant Born Sept. 28, 1779 Died Dec. 9, 1822 Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God SACRED (a large oak emblem) To the memory of Richard W. Bryant who departed this life Apr. 23, 1880 Age 29 yrs. 5 mo. 16 days Our beloved is gone but not forgotten. How frail life’s dearest tie, Those best beloved how soon they die. A few brief hopeful years are fled And each fond household moans it’s dead Oh! unto us the boon be given To meet our loved one now in heaven.
