Harrison Cemetery Location: 4 miles southeast of Hopewell, Virginia, on Route #10; thence .4 mile east on Route #641; thence 1.2 miles north of Route #641, on private road. Prince George Co., Virginia DATE: 1857, date of oldest grave. [marker] OWNERS: This estate was owned by Nathaniel Colley about 1760. It was inherited by his daughter Sally, who married Thomas Cooke. It was inherited by their daughter Martha Cooke. It was next inherited by her nephew George C. Ruffin, the present owner. [1937] DESCRIPTION: This Colley graveyard is in the northwest corner of the “Tar Bay” garden, overlooking the James River. It is an open plot of ground, partly grown over with trees and heavily covered with periwinkle. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Inscriptions: Nathaniel Colley Cooke July 29, 1820 Sept. 21, 1862 and his wife Virginia Ann Peterson Apr. 28, 1824 June 23, 1869 Nathaniel Colley Jr. 1854 – 1857 The following are also buried in this graveyard, but have no markers: James Cooke and his wife Martha Cooke Thomas Cooke and his wife Lucy Cooke Robert Bowden and his wife Virginia Bowden George C.
