Hamlin Cemetery Location: .7 mile south of Petersburg, Virginia, on Route #460; thence .9 mile south on Route #634; thence .4 mile east of Route #634 on private road. Prince George Co., Virginia DATE: 1856, date of oldest grave [marker] OWNERS: David A. Lyons 1937 DESCRIPTION: This graveyard is about fifteen feet square and is grown up in honeysuckle and pine trees. There are two tombstones. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The tombstones have the following inscriptions: Susan H. wife of Timothy Rives Born Feb. 5, 1815 and died Sept. 17, 1856 Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God Ay, turn and weep ‘til ___ To be heart broken here For the graves of earth’s best Is watered by the tear. Timothy Rives Born June 17, 1807 and died Oct. 29, 1865 This monument is erected by his friends in memory of his virtues as a patriot, sincere friend and valued citizen.
